State Sen. Sheila Kuehl, D-Los Angeles, joined the Sierra Club, the American Lung Association and EV advocates at Toyota's office in Torrance to ask the automaker to re-evaluate plans to destroy remaining all-electric cars.

"While Ford has changed its policy and has stopped crushing its electric cars and trucks, Toyota and General Motors have been crushing the vehicles after their leases expire," said Dan Becker, Sierra Club director for global warming and energy, in a written statement.

"Sierra Club urges all the auto manufacturers to sell the vehicles at fair market value."
