Ballard CEO "Excited" by 2nd Generation F-cell Car
LONDON, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Ballard Power is optimistic that its second generation fuel cell prototype developed with DaimlerChrysler (DCXGn.DE) will take the nascent industry forward, Chairman and Chief Executive Firoz Rasul said on Monday.
"We are very very excited and very pleased with the work that's been done" he told investors in London, though he stressed that the new technology, unveiled in Stuttgart, Germany last week, would not be part of its first push into commercial fuel cell vehicle manufacture.
The new Direct Methanol Fuel Cell uses traditional proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology, but permits the use of methanol as fuel without requiring a bulky fuel processor to extract hydrogen from the methanol.
