BP to Help China Develop Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle Infrastructure

Agreements include project in which BP will provide experience for the development of hydrogen energy and fuel cell-powered vehicles to China.

Energy, electronics, stem cell studies and space and aviation sciences are major fields for scientific co-operation between China and the United Kingdom.

A series of conferences or workshops will be held soon to deepen co-operation in the four areas, Lord Sainsbury, minister for science and innovation at the Department of Trade and Industry of UK, said Sunday.

Scientists from the two countries will have additional opportunities to conduct extensive exchanges, he told the opening session of the two-day third UK-China High Technology Forum.

In the first 10 months of 2005, China's exported autos increased 133.6 percent year on year. For the first time, auto exports exceeded the import by 7,000 units, including 105 electric cars exported to the U.S. Photo of Miles ZX-40, an electric car it plans to import from China.

Chinese vehicles will be a threat to established U.S. auto sellers because vehicles from China are likely to be much cheaper than those from Europe, Japan or North America.
