Pennsylvania Project to Study Wind and Hydrogen Production

Efforts to harvest wind energy in Cambria County also are bringing cutting-edge research into what could be the fuel of the future: Hydrogen.

Research and development into hydrogen will coincide with wind testing at a huge recreation park at a former strip mine near Patton, Pennsylvania.

The joint efforts thrust Cambria County into the forefront of energy research - ironically while taking advantage of its coal-mining past.

"We're trying to put Cambria County in the national spotlight as a demonstration of what can be done," said Philip Herbert, managing director of Freedom Wind Energy LLC of Butler County.
