India Seeks Long-term Energy Agreements with Gulf Countries

New Delhi, Jan 4 : India will seek to secure stable long term oil supplies from Gulf countries at the meeting of key producers and consumers in New Delhi on January 6.

Besides seeking long term supply contracts, Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar will also push for a pie in oil and gas field development projects particularly in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iran at the bilateral meetings planned with the ministers of the oil producing countries on the sidelines of the day-long conference.

Energy-hungry India will step up efforts to secure stable and possibly cheaper oil and natural gas supplies from Gulf countries.
