BRT vs Regular Buses Critical to Minnesota Transportation Plan
If all planning and funding falls into place, the residents of the northwest suburbs could be utilizing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) as early as 2008.
While it’s not as sleek and speedy as Light Rail Transit, BRT has several redeeming qualities that will make it much it more attractive to those trying to get to North Memorial Medical Center, downtown Minneapolis, or any other major destination along Bottineau Boulevard.
According to a 2002 “Northwest Corridor Busway Study” that outlines the positive features of BRT and information provided by Metropolitan Council officials, the benefits of BRT begin before the rider even gets on the bus.
