The Segway Human Transporter is more than a toy for Diamond Head resident Jackie Ralph -- it's a way to get from home to Magic Island for her 400-meter swim.

Since the doctor told her she wouldn't be able to jog or walk extensively due to a hip problem, she and the Segway have become best buddies.

"It's totally relaxing and fun," she said of the two-wheeler she bought last July. "It's kind of like flying while you're still touching the ground. They call it gliding."
