PSA and Volvo Pilot 2004 Challenge Bibendum Contenders
PSA Peugeot Citroën and Volvo have both announced details of their entries in the sixth annual Challenge Bibendum event, from today, 12th to 14th of October. Organised by Michelin, the Challenge is the world’s premiere clean car and sustainable mobility event. This year, it is being held at Shanghai’s new Formula 1 racetrack.
The PSA Peugeot Citroën Group has entered four vehicles in the competition, three of which are built at the Wuhan plant by Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobiles. A Citroën Xsara Picasso 1.6-litre HDi with a particulate filter, running on a 30% biodiesel mixture, a Citroën Elysee 1.6-litre, running on compressed natural gas (CNG), a Peugeot 307 saloon 1.6-litre, running on a 20% ethanol-gasoline mixture, and the Peugeot Quark quad-bike style demonstrator, which, powered by electric hub motors, illustrates the Group’s research on automotive fuel cells.
Volvo Car is unveiling a new 3CC prototype for the first time at the Michelin Challenge Bibendum. The version of the low-drag prototype 3-seater Volvo 3CC featured this year has an electric powertrain that propels the car to a governed top speed of over 85 mph and delivers zero to 62 mph acceleration in approximately 10 seconds.
