Ballard Shares Jump on Nissan Order
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Shares of fuel-cell developer Ballard Power Systems Inc. jumped nearly 10 percent in early trading on Thursday after the company announced its second order this week from a major car maker.
Ballard said it had received a C$3.4 million (US$2.2 million) order from Japan's Nissan Motor Co. (7201.T) for Mark 900 Series Fuel Cell Power Modules and support services.
On Monday Ballard said it had signed a contract to provide Germany's DaimlerChrysler (DCXGn.DE) with fuel cells for 30 buses in 2002 and 2003.
