New Hydrogen Storage System Developed

New metal-organic framework weighs half as much as lithium and can absorb hydrogen at relatively low air pressure

A Korean chemist has developed a new technology to efficiently store hydrogen, paving the way for lighter, safer, hydrogen battery cells.

Chae Hee-kwon, a chemistry professor at Hankook University of Foreign Studies, said his research team developed a material that can absorb hydrogen efficiently in relatively low air pressure.

Chae's team completed the project jointly with scientists from the University of Michigan. His research results were published in the science journal "Nature" last Thursday.
