After Millions in Grants, ElectraStor Fades

Company had plans to develop nickel hydrogen battery

PITTSFIELD--Battery developer ElectraStor LLC is leasing its corporate offices here on a month-to-month basis as its landlord seeks a new tenant.

The company, which dropped plans last year to move into a larger facility on Hubbard Avenue, also decided last June not to renew its lease for a portion of the Western Massachusetts Electric Co. building at 333 West St. WMECO is advertising the space for lease through CB Richard Ellis, a commercial real estate firm.

Whether ElectraStor plans to remain in Pittsfield, which three years ago granted the company $250,000 from the GE Economic Development Fund, could not be determined yesterday. Spokesman Curt Preisser declined to comment on the company's future plans or current status.
