Schools Learn Advantages of Energy Efficient Buildings
Schools in Colorado are finding ways to practice what they teach. Recent school development has moved toward sustainable design, often referred to as "green design."
Aspects of this design and construction philosophy easily relate to awareness in education, including a cleaner, safer environment, renewable energy and energy-efficient building systems.
Designing, building and living in green schools is developing into a strong movement. From a geothermal-exchange system in a new Pueblo elementary school to an ice-storage system in Fort Collins to energy-efficiency upgrades in Weld County, school districts are investing time and money, and tapping into professional expertise, to find ways to create sustainable and green environments.
