eVonyx Names New President & CEO
HAWTHORNE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 8, 2001--eVonyx, Inc., a technology company dedicated to developing and commercializing metal-air fuel cell technology, today announced that Kenneth C. Brown has been named its President and Chief Executive Officer.
In announcing the appointment, Dr. Sadeg Faris, Chairman and founder of eVonyx said, "This appointment represents a significant step in the evolution of eVonyx's organization. Ken's outstanding organizational and leadership skills will enable eVonyx to continue its growth towards becoming a recognized worldwide leader in metal-air fuel cell technology."
In his new position, Mr. Brown will oversee continued development and commercialization of eVonyx's proprietary metal-air fuel cell technology called the Revolutionary Power Cell (RPC(TM)). "This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of a leading-edge technology that I believe can make a significant impact in the power technology marketplace," said Mr. Brown. "I am extremely pleased by the confidence expressed by Dr. Faris and the Board regarding my abilities to lead the growth of eVonyx."
Before joining eVonyx, Mr. Brown was President of the architectural firm of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP. Previously, Mr. Brown was a vice president at General Electric, with recent assignments as President of GE's Southeast Asian operations and as Chairman and CEO of GE's Mexican operations. He began his GE career in the industrial systems business, where he managed GE's Latin American operations and also directed worldwide business development activities.
Mr. Brown's career includes 16 years in corporate and operating positions in mining, construction materials, agricultural chemicals, and engineering design services. Before his general management career, Mr. Brown was a senior managing consultant with Price Waterhouse, and held senior engineering and management positions with Science Applications International and the Solar Energy Research Institute where he was active in alternative energy research, development and engineering projects.
Mr. Brown received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Cornell University's College of Engineering and his M.A. in Engineering Science & Economics from Oxford University where he attended as a Rhodes scholar. Mr. Brown was active in the athletic programs at both universities, and was a three-time member of the US National Rowing Team, and a gold-medal winner at the 1974 World Rowing Championships.
