Farming's Fate Linked to Energy, Says Forum
T face=Arial size=2>REDWOOD COUNTY -- As a welcome rain muddied the Farmfest grounds outside, hundreds of farmers joined under a tent to hear federal office holders talk about the other things that really matter to them: Wal-Mart, the price of oil, and even whether Parmesan cheese comes only from Parma, Italy.
All have surprising roles in federal farm policy, according to what emerged during a Tuesday forum at Farmfest 2003 with U.S. Senators Mark Dayton, D-Minn., and Norm Coleman, R-Minn., and U.S. Representatives Collin Peterson, D-Minn., and Gil Gutknecht, R-Minn. Peterson represents the 7th District and Gutknecht the 1st.
