Audi Showcases Electric SUV
Zero-to-sixty in 4.6 seconds! A range of 310 pollution-free miles. Super-fast inductive charging in minutes, instead of hours. A 0.26 drag coefficient made possible by active aerodynamic body elements. Industry leading "piloted" driving technology.
Those are just some of Audi's claims for their e-tron quattro SUV concept featured at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. The video below features Scott Keogh, Audi North America's president at the reveal of the car, which along with VW's BUDD•e all-electric microbus concept emphasizes both companies' apparently serious intent to bring to market electric cars. Keogh notes that in addition to 48V auto stop-start technology that will begin to appear shortly on most Audi models, they also expect that 25% of all their cars sold in the US will be fully electric models. Clearly, they have Tesla in their sights, though while the Silicon Valley company is already delivering its all-electric Model X SUV crossover, Audi's answer is still just a concept with no production schedule announced or price target set.
