Drawings of Next Generation Prius Purportedly Leaked

Taiwanese web site releases images and specifications for what is claimed to be the 4th generation of the Toyota Prius

Published: 10-Jul-2015

Autonet.com.tw, a Taiwanese website with a credible track record reporting on new model automobiles has released a series of drawings that it claims shows what the next generation Toyota Prius will look like.

Thanks to the translation efforts of Hybridcars.com, the specs for the car indicate a combined fuel economy that would be in the 54 mpg range using EPA test procedures. The PHEV version is said to have a 90 hp electric motor and a EV-mode range up to 31 miles on lithium batteries. The current model is rated as less than half that range.

The car will be revealed at the 2016 Tokyo Auto with appearances to follow in Los Angeles, Detroit, Geneva, and China. The car is slated to go on sale at the 'end of the year,' presumably 2015. Pricing has not yet been announced.
