Will Lamborghini Aurus Be A Plug-In?

Lamborghini confirmed it would build the Aurus SUV, which it first debuted in 2012 at the Beijing Auto Show, introducing it in 2018.

Here's what we know about the Lamborghini Aurus SUV: it will be available for sale starting in 2018 and it will be all-wheel drive. What we don't know, is how Lamborghini plans to power it, with speculation seeming to focus on some form of electric-assist.

In keeping with the Italian specialty carmaker's reputation for power and luxury, its assumed the Aurus won't be a laggard in terms of performance, but it also has to comply with every more stringent emission regulations. To comply, Lamborghini engineers will likely resort to some form of e-drive, with speculation centered on the Audi-built turbocharged 5.2-liter V10 "working in conjunction with an electric motor," according to Engine Technology International. It can be assumed that rather than operating as a charge-sustaining hybrid like the regular Prius, it will likely be more charge depleting like Toyota's plug-in Prius.
