Latvian automotive engineering firm eO Drive is returning to Colorado Springs for the third time with the goal of dominating the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in not only the electric vehicle class but also the ICE-age racer class.

Powered by a custom 50KWh battery pack energizing six electric motors with a total peak power rating of 1020 kW (1367 hp), the PP03 will be the most powerful vehicle in the annual 'Race to the Clouds.' It will take all that power and the skill of 42-year-old driver Rhys Millen to turn in a winning time under 9 minutes. The current record holder, Sebastian Loeb, piloted a turbocharged 875bhp Peugeot 208 T16 in 2013, covering the 12.42 miles (21km) and 156 curves in 8:13:878.

eO Drive first made their appearance on Pikes Peak in 2013 with their PP01, depicted above and in the accompanying video below. This year's car, the PP03 is illustrated below. In addition to their "Race to the Clouds" cars, the Latvian company was also the first to complete the demanding Dakar Rally with a hybrid electric vehicle. The current PP03 is being assembled in their Ogresgala Pagasts workshop near Latvia's capital city Riga.
