class=HeadLineNewsContent1>Raido Electric Co., a Taiwan-based electronic company, recently signed a contract with ScootElectric, a UK-based electric scooter company, and agreed to sell 2,500 electric scooters to England beginning in April or May.

"With the cooperation of Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) and the Environmental Protection Administration, the electric scooter will finally be introduced to the market," said Alan Hsu, the president of Raido.

"Taiwan has been inventing electric scooters for the past five years. There are seven companies in Taiwan inventing several different styles of electric scooters," said Yen Pin-ho, team leader of the metal and mechanical industries division of the IDB.

"Now, Taiwan has about 25,000 electric scooters island-wide, most of them located in Southern Taiwan. Quite a few companies have already exported them to some European countries such as Germany and Switzerland," Yen mentioned.
