Blue Planet: The Fuel of the Future
In his State of the Union message last Tuesday, along with attempting to prepare the country for a possible war with Iraq, President George W. Bush upped his administration's support of an effort that someday could make the world a cleaner and more peaceful place.
"Tonight," Bush said, "I am proposing $1.2 billion in research funding so that America can lead the world in developing clean, hydrogen-powered automobiles."
The Department of Energy said the plan actually will mean a total of $1.7 billion over the next 5 years to develop a hydrogen car, usable hydrogen fuel and a hydrogen-based infrastructure to begin to replace the petroleum economy on which we've all come to depend.
