Let Markets Fool with Hydrogen Fuel

OpEd says hydrogen research can be done without government give aways.

It sounded interesting when President Bush asked for $1.2 billion over five years for federal programs to help figure out ways to replace gasoline with a hydrogen-based technology as fuel for our automobiles. The emissions, after all, would be harmless water vapors.

But experts note that the problems are immense, beginning with the fact that the processes for obtaining hydrogen are themselves polluting.
