Brammo Offers Cash Incentives to Replace Federal Tax Break on Electric Motorcycles
Brammo decides to introduce retail incentives to cover for the recently-expired Federal Tax Credit associated with purchasing an electric motorcycle.
This way, customers who intend to buy a 2013 Brammo Empulse or 2013 Brammo Enertia Plus will not be forced to deal with the 10% cost increase brought in by the expiration of the FTC.
The retail incentives are $2,000 (€1,465) for the Empulse and $1,000 (€732) for the Enertia Plus, but no similar information was released in relation to other electric two-wheelers produced by Brammo.
U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Congressman Greg Walden (R-Ore.), and U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) successfully sought an extension of the Federal Tax Credit for two wheel electric vehicles for 2012 and 2013. It is yet to be decided whether this develops into the future.
Craig Bramscher, Brammo CEO and Founder adds that while electric cars get up tp $7,500 (€5,495) Federal Incentives, 10% off the price of a motorcycle seems natural, and a good way to help kick starting the EV industry.
