KC's Fairfax Plant Will Assemble Hybrid Malibus
GM President and CEO Rick Wagoner announced Monday at the North American International Auto Show that the company would make the technology available in a dozen of its models starting late this year.
Hybrids draw power from two energy sources, typically a gas or diesel engine combined with an electric motor.
In February, Fairfax will stop making the Pontiac Grand Prix and shut down for retooling. By autumn, it will be back in business assembling a redesigned Malibu.
