Cabinet officials give in to protestors.

Motorcycle taxi drivers in the Philippines won a reprieve from the Clean Air Act after they staged a protest that clogged streets around the presidential palace in Manila.

Hundreds of drivers showed up Monday to protest enforcement of the new anti-pollution law, which would ban use of the cheap, two-stroke engines that power their vehicles.

The protest ended after cabinet officials agreed to suspend the regulation. Protesters said the ban would put many impoverished drivers out of a job.
