Carmakers Reporting Increasing Sales of Electric, Hybrid Cars
If you missed National Plug In Day last weekend don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get together with other enthusiasts for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.
But you might need a bigger venue. Starting from near zero, sales of plug-in cars are starting to take off, with help from some big price cuts. That means owning a plug-in car – a battery-powered, all-electric vehicle (BEV for short); or a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) – is nowhere near as lonesome as it was.
Nissan North America said last week U.S. sales of the all-electric Nissan Leaf have passed 35,000 since it was launched in 2010.
