GM Set to Announce Hybrid Plan
DETROIT - The world's biggest automaker was expected to reveal details Monday of a new strategy it hopes will give sales a jolt upwards: electric-powered engines.
General Motors Corp. intends to produce a variety of energy-efficient hybrid models over the next four years.
The move will bring gas-and-electric powered vehicles into the mainstream in North America, according to analysts. Until now, hybrids have been available from only a few foreign companies – such as Honda and Toyota.
