Prius Remains Best-Selling Car in California So Far in 2013
Sacramento-based California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA) announced that for the first half of 2013, Toyota's family of Prius hybrid-electric cars continue to be the state's best sellers, edging out Honda's Civic. The five variants of the car racked up 33,987 registrations from January through June.
The four models that Toyota now offers in addition to original Prius include, the Prius V, Prius C and Prius PHV, which is a plug-in electric hybrid. The company also offers a hybrid version of the Camry, the Avalon, and the Highlander SUV.
31,798 Honda Civics were registered over the same period of time, followed by the Honda Accord (31,576), the Toyota Camry (27,996) and the Toyota Corolla (26,522). At midyear, hybrid registrations in California totaled some 59,000 units, nearly five times more than the next closest state.
