smartED Electric Car Receives 4-Start Crash Rating
If you're worried about being involved in a crash while driving smart's electric car, crash tests just completed by the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, should help alleviate some of that concern. The automotive safety standards and testing organization has now given the little two-seater a four-star overall rating out of five. While not a perfect score, the car did achieve a 5-star rating for side impact crashes.
In comparison, the larger and heavier Tesla Model S achieved a perfect five-star rating in all three crash categories: front, oblique and side-impact. Below is the frontal crash video. Additional videos are available on the Safercar.gov website.
