Hybrid Car Rendezvous Set in LA
The Union of Concerned Scientists is organizing an event in Los Angeles during the LA Auto Show to promote the use of hybrid cars. The event, called the Hybrid Car Rendezvous, will take place in front of the LA Convention center on the corner of Figueroa St. and Pico Blvd. on Friday, January 3, 2003, from 6am - 11am.
You were referred to me by one of our hybrid car owners who will be attending the event. I thought I would contact you and pass along this information because it may be of interest to you. I have attached a copy of a letter written by Ed Begley addressed to hybrid car owners that will provide you with details regarding the Rendezvous.
We are very excited about this event, and feel that it will provide a great opportunity to expose hybrid cars to consumers, as well as to convince car manufacturers (especially domestic manufacturers) to focus more heavily on using hybrid technology in their fleets.
I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks very much.

Dear Fellow Hybrid Car Owner,
Please join me at a Hybrid Car Rendezvous outside the Los Angeles Auto Show on Friday, January 3rd from 6:00 am to 11:00 am.
This exciting, first-ever hybrid car rendezvous in downtown Los Angeles will:
- Challenge automakers to adopt hybrid technology throughout their fleets.
- Unveil a new report by the Union of Concerned Scientists that details how hybrid cars can benefit both the environment and consumers.
- Allow media reporters, elected officials and others to ride and rate hybrid cars for their smooth ride, parkability, fuel efficiency and all the other benefits we know hybrid cars provide. This lighthearted event will be broadcast by the news media to educate the public about our environmentally friendly vehicles.
For more information or to R.S.V.P., please call Kelly Hayes-Raitt at (310) 581-4421.
You - and your hybrid! - can participate in this great event any time between 6:00 am and 11:00 am, but you must R.S.V.P. by Friday, December 27th to participate.
Please join me and other forward-thinking Southern Californians in showing our city how to drive clean! Please feel free to forward this to people you think might be interested.
Hope to see you there!
