Taiwan to Install 60 Battery Exchange Stations
Taipei, Taiwan -- The government is planning to build 60 battery exchange stations, starting next February, as part of a pilot project to encourage the use of green vehicles, Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) Minister Stephen Shen said Wednesday.
The stations will be built in New Taipei City in the north of the country and in Kaohsiung City in the south, he said.
In northern Taiwan, the project will be managed by City Power Taiwan Co., which will receive a government subsidy of NT$45 million (US$1.48 million) to set up 30 battery exchange stations in the Banciao District and to provide 600 electric motorcycles free of charge for use by residents.
