Consumer Reports Pans Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

The Sonata Hybrid stumbles, shakes and stutters at low speeds when trying to decide between two power sources.

RALEIGH, N.C. — When the economy took a turn for the worse, car manufacturers were hit particularly hard.

Almost every company cut back expenses, laid off workers and tried to look for other ways to save money.

That wasn't the case for Hyundai, the fourth largest automaker in the world that is based in Seoul, South Korea. Hyundai forged ahead, selling cars by the thousands.
