Vehicle Electrification Offers Too Much Promise to Ignore
Electrification [of automobiles]. Some think it’s a joke. A part of a big global warming hoax. And, if you live in the short term, electrification is a pretty silly story. Without massive government subsidies and tax incentives plug-in vehicles are the quickest path to automotive bankruptcy.
However, if you think long term, the fungible greatness of electrification offers potential impossible to ignore. Still, how many billions is the path to cost-effective electrification worth?
According to a recent forecast, pure battery electric vehicles are on a trajectory to become cost-effective compared to gasoline vehicles without the need for any subsides by around 2020. Of course, that doesn’t mean that battery electric vehicles will necessarily become the mainstream solution for most consumers, as microhybrids, full hybrids, plug-in hybrids and even fuel cell hybrids will also become more cost-effective. Nevertheless, batteries will play a huge role in the automotive future.
