For Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors Inc., 2010 was fast and furious.

It was a year in which he secured a $465 million grant from the Department of Energy and raised $226 million in an IPO for his electric-vehicle company.

He hammered out a partnership with Toyota Motor Corp., which landed Tesla a $50 million investment and a $60 million deal to help develop the RAV4 EV. And he raised $30 million in a battery deal with Panasonic Corp.
