Toyota Developing Hybrid Yaris for 2012

New Yaris will also be slightly larger than current model and should cost under $20,000.

A hybrid version of the Toyota Yaris compact car is in the works, but the new hybrid won’t hit the market until around 2012.

However, Toyota is releasing an upgraded version of the Yaris in Japan, and thereby providing a few interesting details regarding the upcoming hybrid version.

For instance, the wheelbase is up two inches and the car has been lengthened by 4 inches, providing more cabin room, especially in the back according to Straightline. While that’s great news, the more exciting news is the improvement in fuel economy.
