GE Electric Car Purchases Should Help Ease Consumer Fears
The Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers' Association has applauded a plan by General Electric to purchase 25,000 electric cars.
"That's a very good move because people fear what they don't know," Mark Nantais, association president, said Friday. "If they see these vehicles on the road, they see that they perform as well or better than conventional gasoline vehicles and there's no other concerns associated with them, they will start to lean toward making a similar purchase."
GE announced this week plans to add 25,000 electric cars, including 12,000 plug-in Chevrolet Volts, to its global fleet by 2015.
