Fiat 500 EV to be Powered by SB LiMotive Batteries

Chrysler Fiat 500 EV electric car will debut in 2012 in North America.

SB LiMotive announced Sunday that it will supply lithium-ion batteries to Chrysler for use in its Fiat 500 EV electric car from 2012.

SB LiMotive, a joint venture between Samsung SDI and Germany's Robert Bosch, will manufacture lithium-ion cells in a newly-built production line in Ulsan.

The batteries, which consist of cells, a cooling system, safety device and battery management system, will be assembled by SB LiMotive's U.S. subsidiary Cobasys in Ohio.


Trio of Mazda 2 sedans will be test beds for electric drivetrain developed by Think and EnerDel.

Three Mazda 2 cars will be converted to EVs to test and evaluate the vehicles’ resilience in busy Tsukuba City daily commuter traffic.
