TXU to install a dozen public charging stations on city property in Dallas and Fort Worth.

TXU Energy will install at least a dozen electric-vehicle charging stations on city property in Fort Worth and Dallas.

TXU, a unit of Energy Future Holdings, will pay for the stations, which are meant to encourage people to buy electric vehicles. Anyone may use the stations. TXU will pay for all the electricity for the first year and for the electricity used by city vehicles and employees in the second and third years.

TXU vice president for public affairs Brian Tulloh said installing the stations, which cost around $10,000 each, will help company managers learn about the technology.
