AMP Remains Competitive in Progress Insurance X Prize
BLUE ASH - The pursuit of a share of the $10 million Progressive Insurance Automotive X prize gets serious next week for the team at AMP electric vehicles.
The three-year-old all-electric vehicle conversion company is one of 24 finalists culled from an initial field of more than 100 qualifiers vying for the X Prize, created to inspire next-generation vehicles capable of achieving the equivalent of 100 miles per gallon.
AMP's all-electric Saturn Sky is one of 11 finalists in the alternative vehicle category that includes California electric car maker ZAP and United Kingdom-based Tata Motors Ltd., is entering the next-to-last "knock-out" qualifying stage in the competition June 20 at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich.
