Toyota Prius Is Best Selling Car for 2009 in Japan

TOKYO -- The Toyota Prius became the first hybrid car that enjoyed best selling in Japan in 2009, according to statistics released on Friday by the Japan Automobile Dealers Association.

The Prius sold 208,876 units in 2009, a 285.7 percent increase on sales in 2008.

The Prius was also the best-selling car in Japan in December, and has been in the top spot since May, when it released a new model.
