WHEN I was invited to road test the Vectrix Electric Maxi-Scooter, my first reaction was a wry grin.

I’m old enough to remember Vespas and Lambrettas the first time round (when I was riding BSAs and Triumphs) and I thought scooters looked pretty silly then. I never went along with the whole Mods and Rockers thing.

I felt they were subject to the same potential disadvantages, but without all the exciting advantages of a “proper” motorcycle.

Overall, the subsidy works out to a little over 20 per cent, which means a saving of Rs 4,000-7,890. Pictured is Hero Advanta electric scooter.
