Clinton Seeks Climate Deal This Year
BERLIN (Reuters) - President Clinton has approached the European Union to propose a quick resumption of climate change talks aimed at securing a deal on cutting global greenhouse gas emissions, a German newspaper reported on Friday.
Clinton is keen to reach a deal before the end of his presidency in late January, the daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported, citing unnamed EU sources.
EU sources told Reuters that discussions with the United States on a possible climate deal were continuing by telephone and fax but declined to give further details.
