The Fisker Karma is poised to be the world's first plug-in petrol-electric sports car this year.

Unknown to most, the curvaceous four-door coupe which wowed crowds at the ongoing Detroit Motor Show has a Singapore connection.

Its lithium-manganese batteries are supplied by Vancouver-based Advanced Lithium Power, whose founder and chairman was born and bred in Singapore.
