Florida Couple Developing & Promoting Electric Bicycles
Published: 01-Dec-2000
The Jupiter man is the inventor of an electric bicycle he hopes will favorably shock and surprise the transportation industry - at least in South Florida.
Jeff Patterson, 38, is a welder and fabricator who knows at least one thing for certain. He will never run out of gas. His two-wheeler, built on a regular bicycle chassis, can run at speeds of up to 30 mph and can go 35 miles on a single charge.
Patterson rides his electric bicycle back and forth to work as a welder and fabricator at J&R Metal Fabricating in Jupiter and needs to charge it only once a week.
