UK City Council Adopts Green Transportation Policy
HARINGEY Council is pledging to practise what it preaches by encouraging staff to give up their cars and use other transport in a bid to create a greener borough.
The new staff travel plan, due to come into effect from Tuesday, April 1, will see a new £200 a year charge for parking at council sites along with tighter criteria for permits.
Car sharing is to be encouraged while the council is also set to boost green travel by introducing a pool of electric cars, more shared bicycles and discounts for staff at bicycle shops.
