BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Governor Otter is requiring the state to start buying vehicles that are more environmentally friendly and fuel efficient.

An executive order Otter signed last month aims to bolster the fuel efficiency of the state's fleet of cars and trucks and cut back on fuel consumption.

It also requires heads of departments and agencies to make buying hybrid vehicles a priority and to make a special case for buying sport utility vehicles and other low-mileage vehicles.
