Tax breaks, engineering talent and proximity to customers persuaded a Canadian auto supplier of hybrid control and powertrain systems to undertake a $1.2 million relocation of its corporate headquarters to Oak Park.

The move could result in up to 125 jobs by 2012, Azure Dynamics Corp. told the city, with total investment of $2.9 million.

The company's CEO, Scott Harrison, was formerly group president for Northville-based Hayes Lemmerz.

News reports the company will soon divulge plans to sell an EV subcompact, powered by a lithium-ion battery. Pictured is a Colt concept vehicle.
