Kia Motors Corp. of South Korea exhibited its concept car "eco_cee'd" at the 62nd International Motor Show Cars in Frankfurt.

This concept car is manufactured based on the company's "Pro_cee'd" but has an enhanced fuel efficiency and environmental performance without sacrificing the driving performance. Compared with "cee'd," Kia's current five-door hatchback, the fuel efficiency is increased by 17 % to 25.6 km/L, and the CO2 emission is reduced by 20 g/km to 104 g/km.

The car has such modifications as a newly added underfloor cover, a plastic fender liner with a spoiler to smooth the air flow from the tires and a suspension system designed to be 15 mm lower to reduce the drag of front grill. As a result, aerodynamic drag is reduced by 11%, and the Cd value is improved from the base model's 0.33 to 0.29. The car comes with a tire repair kit, but not with a spare tire in order to help reduce the vehicle weight.
