The government of South Africa has announced it is to support the development of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.

It is envisaged by the government that the move will enable the country to produce energy more efficiently than current technologies allow.

The scheme will also ensure the state is able to generate energy from a range of sources, rather than being limited to fossil fuels.
