ROCHESTER HILLS — An electric car manufacturer may locate a vehicle assembly plant in the city, potentially adding 460 jobs, if tax incentives are met.

According to John Thomas, a senior director of Tesla Motors, the company is planning its first assembly plant in North America. "Michigan made the short list" for possible locations, Thomas said.

"We are still exploring options," he said. "We want to make a decision in less than a month." Other possible locations include cities in California, Arizona and North Carolina, he said.
