Renault is to begin production of fuel cell cars in India by 2010, according to local media reports.

The French car manufacturer is reported to be planning to establish a joint plant with Nissan to cater for European markets.

The DPA news agency reports that the fuel cell vehicles would be targeted at urban users and would also come equipped with lithium-ionic batteries.
